BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 18. Türkiye's Tekirdag port received 15.45 million tons of cargo from January through August 2024, the statement of Türkiye's Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure said, Trend reports.
The data from the Turkish Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure shows that 713,093 tons of cargo were transported from Tekirdag port under the flag of Türkiye, and 14.7 million tons were transported by vessels under the flags of other countries.
A total of 12.1 million tons of transit cargo were transported from Tekirdag port in Türkiye from January through August 2024.
Turkish ports handled a total of around 31.5 million tons of cargo in August 2024, with 2.6 million tons arriving on Turkish-flagged vessels and 29 million tons on foreign-flagged ships.
In addition, transit cargo turnover amounted to 5.7 million tons for the same period.
“Cargo traffic of vessels under the flags of other countries to Turkish ports amounted to 29.1 million tons,” the statement of the ministry said.
During this period, 33.4 million tons of transit cargo were transported. A total of 40,846 ships docked at Turkish ports, comprising 3,535 foreign-flagged and 2,331 Turkish-flagged vessels.
Furthermore, about 5.6 million tons of transit cargo were transported from Turkish ports in August 2024.
The ministry notes that Türkiye's ports received 267 million tons of cargo from January through August 2024.
“The cargo reception by Turkish-flagged vessels amounted to 19.9 million tons, while by vessels under the flags of other countries, cargo transportation to the ports of Türkiye amounted to 247.8 million tons,” the statement of the ministry reads.
The statement points out that from January through August 2024, a total of 33.3 million tons of transit cargo were transported from the ports of Türkiye.
However, in January-August of this year, the ports of Türkiye accepted 40,846 vessels.
During the mentioned period, the number of vessels accepted in the ports of Türkiye under the flags of other countries amounted to 3,535, and under the flag of Türkiye - 2,331.
