ASTANA, Kazakhstan, January 27. Alsera KZ, a subsidiary of the Turkish company Alarko Holding, has signed an Investment Agreement with the Government of Kazakhstan for the implementation of a greenhouse complex construction project in Shymkent, Trend reports.
The agreement was signed on behalf of the Government by Minister of Agriculture of Kazakhstan Aidarbek Saparov. The project will be carried out with the support of Kazakh Invest National Company JSC.
The goal of the project is to produce domestic agricultural products to reduce the volume of seasonal imports. The total investment amount will be $650 million, with the creation of 5,000 jobs. The greenhouses are expected to produce up to 175,000 tons of tomatoes per year. The project is expected to be commissioned in 2026. The target markets will include Kazakhstan, South Korea, Japan, and Russia.
The complex will produce high-quality vegetable products, which is particularly important during the off-season when there is a shortage and price increase in the country. Furthermore, the project aims to increase the volume of agricultural exports and introduce advanced technologies.
The Minister of Agriculture of Kazakhstan, Aidarbek Saparov, emphasized the strategic importance of the project. In turn, Madiyar Sultanbek, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Kazakh Invest, stressed that the project is an important step in attracting foreign investments into Kazakhstan's agricultural sector.
“We are confident that the modern technologies that will be implemented within the greenhouse complex construction will not only increase the competitiveness of domestic products but will also serve as an example for other investors. The Turkish investor, as part of the Investment Agreement, undertakes the responsibility of building playgrounds, kindergartens, and landscaping the areas. Such initiatives are an important part of the socially responsible approach by investors, which strengthens trust in foreign partners and stimulates their further involvement in projects within Kazakhstan,” noted Madiyar Sultanbek.
Türkiye is among the top 20 largest investors in Kazakhstan and ranks fifth in terms of mutual trade. 70 large investment projects worth about $2.8 billion have been successfully completed in the last years, in the mining, metallurgical, food, pharmaceutical, and other sectors.
