ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, May 7. Georgia and Turkmenistan have discussed expanding economic cooperation with a focus on trade, logistics infrastructure and digital transformation of the transport sector, Trend reports via the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia.

The issues were reviewed during a meeting between Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan Nokerguly Atagulyev and Georgian Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Mariam Kvrivishvili, as part of her official visit to Turkmenistan.

The sides paid particular attention to the development of Georgia’s transit potential and regional trade connectivity. Turkmenistan expressed interest in establishing warehouse and logistics infrastructure near Georgian ports, as well as cooperation in the digitalization of the maritime sector and implementation of a “Single Maritime Window” (NMSW).

Georgia, in turn, highlighted its goal of becoming a regional digital hub connecting Europe and Asia through a Black Sea subsea cable and developed transport infrastructure.

The parties also discussed prospects for cooperation in tourism, reaffirming their interest in strengthening bilateral economic and transport ties.
