The newly elected Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev stands for expanding and decentralizing the power of parliament.

"We must find an optimal solution to expand the powers of the parliament, the responsibility of the government and to improve the electoral process," Nazarbayev said on Friday in his inaugural speech.

On Friday morning Nazarbayev officially took office, by stating an oath on the Constitution. Nazarbayev won in the extraordinary presidential elections on Sunday, by gaining 95.55 percent of votes.

"We must find a balanced decision to decentralize power and delegate authority to the regions," Nazarbayev said.

The President promised that Kazakhstan will continue to work toward further democratization of the country's society.

"The dynamics of our reforms is higher than in developed countries, where democracy has been developing for centuries," Nazarbayev said. "We will continue to work on further democratization of society."

The presidential elections passed without using "black PR". "This should be an example for all future election campaigns," he said.

The President called for the further development of political culture. Nazarbayev said that only in such a case Kazakhstan will develop a real and effective multiparty democracy.
