BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 20. Business representatives from Uzbekistan and the United States have signed agreements worth a total of $12 billion following a meeting of the American-Uzbek Business and Investment Council held in Samarkand. This was reported by the press service of Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade.

“A package of 54 agreements in trade, investment and technological cooperation was signed as part of business events held during the visit of the U.S. delegation to Uzbekistan. Their implementation provides for investments totaling $12 billion,” the statement said.

The agreements are aimed at modernizing Uzbekistan’s industrial sector, transport and energy infrastructure, developing critical mineral resources, and advancing the financial sector, digital technologies, agriculture, healthcare and education.

In the transport sector, cooperation with GE Aerospace предусматривает the supply of engines for new Uzbekistan Airways aircraft. Meanwhile, initiatives with Wabtec focus on localizing the production of railway equipment and components, helping modernize the industry technologically and expand domestic manufacturing capabilities.

Agreements with companies including Franklin Templeton, Oppenheimer & Co., Citigroup and BlackRock are expected to help Uzbek companies access international capital markets, attract institutional investors and secure financing for infrastructure projects.

Agreements and cooperation with ReElement Technologies, Traxys and Trafigura in the mining sector are aimed at developing new deposits, promoting technological cooperation and supplying mineral resources. Particular emphasis was placed on strengthening Uzbekistan’s domestic capabilities in the critical minerals sector.

Meanwhile, projects in the digital and social sectors involving Amazon Leo, GE HealthCare and Valmont Industries предусматривают the development of satellite communications, the introduction of advanced medical technologies and improvements in agricultural efficiency.

“The signed package lays the foundation for a new stage in Uzbek-American economic cooperation, combining international capital and advanced technologies with Uzbekistan’s industrial potential. The next priority will be to consistently translate the agreements reached into tangible results,” the ministry’s press service added.
