BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, October 18. Kyrgyzstan plans to construct a coal logistics center equipped with a conveyor belt for the export of coal to China, Trend reports.
The draft project for the organization of the coal logistics center and a conveyor has been submitted for public discussion by the Cabinet of Ministers.
According to the supporting documentation, a memorandum of understanding was signed between Xinjiang Dacheng Yuanlong Technology Co., LTD and Kyrgyzkomur state-owned enterprise. The plan includes the construction of a 7-kilometer conveyor near the Irkeshtam border crossing with China.
Additionally, an investment agreement has been signed for a 157-kilometer conveyor belt that will transport coal from deposits in Chon-Alae to the logistics center, which will be located near the Irkeshtam highway checkpoint at the Kyrgyz-Chinese border.
Furthermore, a contract has been established between Kyrgyzkomur and Shanxi Coal Investment Group for the construction of a coal logistics center with a conveyor belt near the Kyzyl-Kiya border crossing on the Kyrgyz-Uzbek border.
This marks the first time Kyrgyzstan plans to use conveyor belts for coal transportation across its borders. Currently, there are no regulatory frameworks governing this activity. To address this gap, a draft regulation for the organization of operations at the coal logistics center with a conveyor belt has been developed.
