BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 7. Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has recently met with Supreme Leader Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei, Trend reports.

Pezeshkian made the announcement during a meeting with business leaders in Tehran on Thursday.

The president said the talks were held in a cordial atmosphere and lasted for two and a half hours.

Pezeshkian emphasized the importance of strengthening unity, trust and solidarity in governing the country. He noted that senior Iranian officials consistently stress the need for cohesion and mutual confidence during official meetings.

“At the current sensitive stage for the country and the region, the positive role of the country’s leadership can play an important part in improving governance, increasing hope and solidarity, and strengthening public ties,” he said.

On Feb. 28, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei was killed in U.S. and Israeli airstrikes targeting Iran. On March 8, Iran’s Assembly of Experts voted by majority to appoint his son, Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei, as the country’s third Supreme Leader.
