The Georgian government has accepted Azerbaijan's proposal to restore the destroyed house-museum of renowned Azerbaijani writer, publicist and state figure Nariman Narimanov in the center of Tbilisi. An official document is being drafted which will obligate Georgia to repair the museum, Counselor at the Azerbaijani Embassy in Georgia Shovgi Mehdizade told Trend in a telephone conversation from Tbilisi on Jan. 6. The museum on Mirza Shafi Vazeh St. was ruined in December due to heavy construction on the territory where a foreign company is building a modern residential complex.

The Tbilisi City Administration and Georgia's Culture Ministry guarantee the museum will be restored.

Mehdizade says the Azeri and Georgian culture ministries are already preparing a draft document. Once ready, the agreement will be signed.

"It is important for the Georgian government to restore the museum," Mehdizade said. "Georgia has accepted all of our terms."

A project proposal to rebuild the area where the home is located - called Meidan - is ready, and will bring back the district's original architecture, Georgian Presidential Advisor Mubariz Garayev told Trend .

"The area's ancient appearance and lifestyle will be taken into account during reconstruction," he said.

As soon as the new building is constructed, the 200-square-meter museum will be rebuilt and handed over to the Azerbaijani Culture Ministry.
