ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, August 27. Mass almond harvesting has begun in the Kaakhka region of Turkmenistan, where the open joint-stock company Miwe, a member of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, is collecting the crop from 2,200 hectares of orchards, Trend reports.
For the first time, farmers are using specialized machinery - the Spanish-made Tenias Harvester, which can process up to five trees per minute. The introduction of the technology is expected to sharply boost efficiency and reduce reliance on manual labor.
Almonds remain in strong demand in Turkmenistan’s food industry, used fresh and processed into oil, flour and paste. This year’s harvest is timed to coincide with national celebrations, with yields projected at 250 to 270 tons in honor of the 34th anniversary of Independence and the 30th anniversary of the country’s Permanent Neutrality.
