Iran’s gross gas output capacity stands at about 885 million cubic meters per day (mcm/d), Ali Kardor COE of National Iranian Oil Company said Apr.14, ISNA news agency reported.
He said that the figure is expected to reach 1,100 mcm/d by the end of current fiscal year (March, 20, 2018).
During 2018, some 25-35 mcm/d of gas also would be added to the production capacity, Kardor said.
According to official documents, prepared by Iran’s Oil Ministry and seen by Trend, the country’s average gross gas output stood at 780 mcm/d during 2016.
However, Iran launched several platforms at South Pars and the output reached over 830 mcm/d during winter.
Iran is also preparing to officially inaugurate phases 17, 18, 19, 20, 21 of the South Pars in the coming days. Some of them are operational with half capacity.
South Pars, located in southern region, is divided into 24 development phases, and contains 40 trillion cubic meters of natural gas, of which a third is in Iranian side and the rest belongs to Qatar.
The Islamic Republic is producing over 500,000 mcm/d from South Pars currently, while the production level is projected to surpass 700 mcm/d by late 2018.
