BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 12. Iran's South Pars Gas Complex Company increased sweet natural gas production by 2.2 billion cubic meters (bcm) during 10 months of the current Iranian year (from March 20, 2024 through January 19, 2025) versus the same period last year (from March 21, 2023 through January 20, 2024), the company's CEO Gholamabbas Hosseini told reporters, Trend reports.

He indicated that throughout the 10-month timeframe of the current fiscal year, the enterprise generated 168 bcm of sweet natural gas and that the increase in this volume of gas can provide days for the consumption of housing and small industrial facilities in the country.

"The production increase was due to a series of operations at the company’s plants, including the installation of two turbine units at the 13th processing plant. With the installation of these two turbines, sweet gas processing has increased by 10 million cubic meters in two stages," he explained.

The company official added that during the 10 months, more than 200 million barrels of gas condensate were processed, and nearly half of this volume was transferred as raw material to the Persian Gulf Star Oil Company, while the rest was sent to petrochemical plants and for export.

To note, South Pars Gas Complex Company obtains 650 million cubic meters of rich gas daily from the South Pars gas field. A total of 580 million cubic meters of gas is processed and transferred to the country's gas network. The company also produces 780,000 barrels of gas condensate, 15,000 tons of ethane, 15,000 tons of propane, 10,000 tons of butane, and 2,500 tons of sulfur daily.

The South Pars gas field (North Douma in Qatar) is a joint gas field between Iran and Qatar. This field has 51 trillion cubic meters of gas reserves, of which 36 trillion cubic meters can be produced. Iran's share in this field is 14 trillion cubic meters of gas and 18 billion barrels of gas condensate.
