BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 17. The capacity of crude oil storage in Iran's Kharg Operational Area terminals has been increased by two million barrels, Trend reports via the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC).
According to the company, today, oil storage facilities No. 25 and 26, with capacity of one million barrels each, in the Kharg Operational Area were re-commissioned after complete renovation.
At an event organized in connection with the re-commissioning of the two oil storage facilities, Iran's Deputy Oil Minister, CEO of the NIOC Hamid Bovard said that increasing the capacity of crude oil storage facilities is effective in boosting the country's export maneuver and reducing additional costs such as renting storage facilities.
Bovard pointed out that five tankers are being repaired in connection with the transportation of Iranian crude oil, and the re-commissioning of oil tankers will also boost Iran's crude oil exports.
To note, the Iranian Oil Terminals Company has 40 storage facilities with a capacity of more than 20 million barrels at the Kharg Oil Terminal on Kharg Island. These storage facilities are filled with crude oil from oil fields in southern Iran via pipelines under the sea. At the Kharg Oil Terminal, crude oil is pumped into storage facilities, separated into different types, and then exported.
