Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov received today a delegation of members of the European Parliament Bas Eickhout, Dan Jorgensen and Norbert Neuser, the ministry's press service told Trend on Friday.
The visit aims to familiarize with Azerbaijan, country's progress in building legal democratic state and European integration, with realities of the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh, including holding discussions in connection with refugees and IDPs.
Elmar Mammadyarov stressed at the meeting the importance of parliamentary diplomacy and said that the direct contact of members of Parliament contributes to the development of relations.
The Minister informed the guests about the path passed by Azerbaijan in the 20 years of independence, and political and economic reforms being carried out in the country, the political processes in the region, the historical roots of the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and steps aimed at its peaceful resolution.
The sides exchanged views on other issues of common interest.
