Construction is complete at the compressor station 1 in Gardabani, Georgia (CSG1) as part of the South Caucasus Pipeline Expansion (SCPX) project, Trend learned from Georgian Energy Ministry.
Construction of the South Caucasus Pipeline Expansion project in Georgia is progressing as planned, said a source in the ministry.
“All of the Georgia pipeline section [welding] has been completed. Construction is completed at the compressor station 1 in Gardabani, Georgia (CSG1). Construction is complete by 75 percent at the compressor station 2 in Tsalka, Georgia (CSG2),” said the source.
Construction of pressure reduction and metering station at the Turkish border (Area 81) at Vale is completed, added the source.
The length of the South Caucasus Pipeline exceeds 700 kilometers. It will transport gas produced from the Shah Deniz gas and condensate field in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea.
SCPX project will increase SCP’s throughput capacity by 16 billion cubic meters per annum, bringing the overall transportation capacity of the pipeline to circa 23.4 billion cubic meters per annum.
The contract for development of the Shah Deniz offshore field was signed on June 4, 1996. The field's reserve is estimated at 1.2 trillion cubic meters of gas.
The shareholders are: BP, operator (28.8 percent), AzSD (10 percent), SGC Upstream (6.7 percent), Petronas (15.5 percent), Lukoil (10 percent), NICO (10 percent) and TPOC (19 percent).
