Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend / The final of the first Cup 'Trend' on the intellectual game organized by TREND Agency and Intellectual Youth Club 'Khazar' ('Caspian') will take place at Baku Entertaining Center on 6 January at 12:00 a.m. The contest will be attended by 30 groups from various higher education institutions and youth teams, as well as one team which is comprised of stars of the host show-business.
"Our activities have always been aimed at attracting young people, students and even pupils in the intellectual movements, as well as developing their logical thoughts, strengthening their world views, becoming familiarized with the worldwide culture and history as near as possible, but through not forgetting our Native Land," said the President of Intellectual Youth Club 'Khazar', Seymur Teymurov.
Intellectual Youth Club 'Khazar' was established by a group of students, particularly by the students of the law and history departments of Baku State University in April 2001. Before establishment of the Club, the students were playing in other clubs, but the games were held in Russian in those clubs.
"The opportunity to establish the club in Azeri fully coincided with our wishes," he said.
According to Teymurov, over the past seven years of Club's establishment, they could achieve large successes. "During this period, more than 2,000 people passed our Club. Currently intellectual clubs, which were established in the example of our Club, are functioning at several large higher education institutions in Azerbaijan and many leading players of these clubs were or are members to our Club. Therefore, we can say that we are in a true way and the goals facing us will be achieved in the future as well," he said.
According to the President of the Club, the key problem for 'Khazar' Club is the absence of the premise for conducting games. "For more than six years, Baku State University had been the 'home' of our Club. However, several months ago, we were asked to leave the University due to unclear reasons. Yet the Club holds its games in the building belonging to Azerbaijan State University of Languages. The second problem is the absence of sponsor in organizing tournaments and festivals on intellectual games," Teymurov said.
