BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 7. A meeting has been held between the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Azerbaijan's AzerEnergy OJSC, Baba Rzayev, and his counterpart from the Saudi Arabian ACWA Power company, Mohammad Abunayyan, a source in the OJSC told Trend.

The meeting exchanged views on the connection of the 240 MW Khizi-Absheron Wind Power Plant to the energy system, the current state of cooperation, and future prospects.

Besides, the meeting widely discussed the development of renewable energy sources, the safe integration of these powers into the energy system, energy management, and the application of new technologies, including battery storage systems.

Azerbaijan's Azerenergy (via SOCAR) and Saudi Arabia's ACWA Power have a strong, expanding partnership focused on renewable energy, including major wind projects like the 240 MW Khizi-Absheron plant, and are exploring green hydrogen, green fertilizer, and offshore wind, aiming to boost Azerbaijan's green energy capacity and exports, aligned with climate goals and Saudi Vision 2030. Key agreements, including power purchase and transmission, were signed in late 2020 for the Khizi-Absheron wind farm, with ongoing discussions for new large-scale projects and regional connectivity like subsea cables.
