BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 15. Hydropower plants (HPPs) in Azerbaijan's Nakhchivan produced 21.7 million kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electricity in the first quarter of 2025.
Data obtained by Trend from the Ministry of Energy shows this figure's growth by a whopping 6.3 million kWh (40.9 percent) compared to the same period last year (15.4 million kWh).
The total electricity production in Azerbaijan during the reporting period reached 7.17 billion kWh, marking a 0.6 percent (42.5 million kWh) increase from the previous year's figures (7.13 billion kWh).
Of this, the production from thermal power plants (TPPs) amounted to 6.3 billion kWh, from HPPs 669.6 million kWh, and other sources contributed 183.9 million kWh, including 9.5 million kWh from wind power plants, 112.5 million kWh from solar power plants, and 61.9 million kWh from the Waste Incineration Plant.
