BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 31. Over the past year, 260 billion cubic meters of gas have been transported to various provinces of the country by the Iranian Gas Transmission Company, Peyman Khazrai, Executive Director of the Iranian Gas Transmission Company, said in a statement to local media, Trend reports.
According to him, the highest gas transportation in the past year was recorded on February 1, 2025. So, on that day, 880 million cubic meters of gas were transported to various regions of the country.
Khazrayi said that 11 turbo-compressors and a 255 km pipeline were put into operation in the country during the mentioned period. Also, during the mentioned period, repair work was carried out on 55 gas turbines and 1.3 thousand km pipelines.
The main task of the Iranian Gas Transmission Company is to transport natural gas, ethane, liquefied gas, gas condensate in the country or to carry out product swaps. This company has 10 operational zones in 10 provinces of Iran. This company has more than 38,000 km of pipelines, 88 gas pressure stations, 9 gas export-import terminals and can transport more than 280 billion cubic meters of gas per year.
Iran is considered the second largest gas producer in the world with approximately 34 trillion cubic meters of gas reserves. There are currently 22 active gas fields in Iran.
Iran's gas production averages 1 billion cubic meters per day. During the winter, gas consumption in Iran increases to approximately 800 million cubic meters per day.
