Coffee prices up in Georgia

Coffee prices in Georgia have risen by an average of 10 percent on the local market, said the CEO of the Georgian Coffee Company Ramaz Tsikhelashvili, Trend reports via Georgian media.

Tsikhelashvili said coffee sales have decreased in Georgia that reduced the import of the product as well.

"I can’t say whether the price of coffee will further increase, but it has already increased,” Tsikhelashvili notes.

Georgia has decreased coffee imports by 17.2 percent this year. From January through February 2020 the country bought 1,003.9 tons of coffee from abroad ($2.536 million), while in 2 months of the current year 830.7 tons ($2.047 million) were imported.

From January through February 2021, Georgia brought coffee from 19 countries, including Indonesia which accounts for the largest share of 59.6 percent. The top five exporters also include Vietnam, Russia, France and Italy.
