Iran shares details of trade turnover with Caspian Sea countries

Iran's trade turnover with four Caspian littoral states – Azerbaijan, Russia, Kazakhstan, and Turkmenistan amounted to 6.24 million tons worth $2.52 billion in the last Iranian year (from March 20, 2020, through March 20, 2021), Spokesman for the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA), Rouhollah Latifi said, Trend reports citing the administration’s website.

According to Latifi, Iran's exports to the four Caspian littoral countries amounted to 3.12 million tons worth $1.32 billion over the last Iranian year.

Latifi added that Iran exported 1.08 million tons of goods worth about $511 million to Azerbaijan during the reporting period.

“In addition, Iran exported 1.05 million tons of goods worth $504 million to Russia, 338,000 tons worth about $168 million to Kazakhstan, and 733,000 tons worth $137 million to Turkmenistan,” he said.

The spokesman stressed that Iran imported about 3.12 million tons of goods worth $1.2 billion from the four Caspian littoral states last Iranian year.

Latifi noted that Iran imported 2.9 million tons of goods worth $1.07 billion from Russia.

“Moreover, Iran imported 28,400 tons of goods worth $76.1 million from Azerbaijan, 89,900 tons worth $37.3 million from Kazakhstan, and 65,400 tons worth $20 million from Turkmenistan during last Iranian year,” he said.

The official emphasized that Iran's trade turnover with the Caspian littoral states was in the positive balance of $117 million last Iranian year. It is possible to increase trade with these countries with the development of sea, railway and road transport.
