Azerbaijan ranks on top of Iran's export destination among Caspian Sea countries

TEHRAN, Iran, June 8. Iran's trade with four Caspian Sea countries has increased during the first two months of the current Iranian year (started March 21, 2022), Rouhllah Latifi the spokesman of the Iran Customs Administration told Trend.

He pointed out that Iran's total trade with Russia, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, and Azerbaijan reached 1.3 million tons valued at 897.5 million indicating a 10 percent increase in weight and 38 percent increase in value in the current Iranian year.

Iran exported 646,360 tons of commodities valued at $263 million to the following countries in this period showing a 14 percent decline in export weight and a 17 percent increase in value.

He went on to say that Iran imported 554,500 tons of goods valued at $634.4 million from the four Caspian Sea countries during the first two months of the year with a 62 percent growth in weight and 49 percent increase in value.

Azerbaijan was Iran's top export destination among these countries with $114.9 million worth of exported goods, Russia with $68.5 million, Turkmenistan with $58 million, and Kazakhstan with $20 million stood at lower levels. Iran's major imports were from Russia, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, and Turkmenistan.

Iran's trade with the four countries includes Russia ($387.5 million), Turkmenistan ($63 million), Kazakhstan ($63 million), and Azerbaijan ($120 million).
