BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 9. Azerbaijan exported a total of 14.7 billion cubic meters (bcm) of gas abroad from January through July 2024, with a year-on-year growth of 5.7 percent, Trend reports.
Data from the country's Energy Ministry shows that of this volume, nearly 5.8 bcm fell on Türkiye, about 7.5 bcm - Europe [European Union countries], and 1.4 bcm - Georgia.
During this period, 3.3 bcm of gas was exported to Türkiye through the Trans-Anatolian Pipeline (TANAP).
To note, Azerbaijan began gas supplies to Europe via the Southern Gas Corridor on December 31, 2020. The initial capacity of the European part of the corridor (TAP) is 10 bcm of gas.
In July 2022, Azerbaijan and the EU signed a memorandum that provides for increasing the capacity of this infrastructure to 20 billion cubic meters per year by 2027.
