BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 13. Electricity production from renewable energy sources in Azerbaijan amounted to nearly 2.77 billion kWh from January through August 2024, compared to 1.53 billion kWh in the same period in 2023, Trend reports via the nation's Ministry of Energy.
Out of this total, 2.13 billion kWh came from solar power plants (SPPs), 171.2 million kWh from waste-to-energy plants, 37.9 million kWh from wind power plants (WPPs), and the remainder from hydropower.
To note, Azerbaijan aims to increase the share of renewables in its overall energy mix to 30-33 percent by 2030.
Currently, the share of renewables stands at 14 percent.
