Turkish company Polimeks Insaat Taahhüt ve San. Tic. A.S. has commissioned a plant with a capacity of 1.4 million tons of cement per year in the east of Turkmenistan, an official Turkmen source said.
The enterprise in the village of Garlyk in the Lebap region will produce high quality Portland cement, oil well cement needed for the oil and gas industries, as well as sulphate resistant cement used in hydro technical equipment.
The necessary raw materials for the plant will be produced in the quarry located in the immediate vicinity of the plant with production lines serving 800 people.
Basic technological and auxiliary equipment was installed on the territory of the plant. About 2000 professionals were involved assembling metal constructions and installed equipment in the warehouse for the storage of clinker, assembled limestone storage and iron ore, installed bunkers, crushing units and other equipment.
A railroad and a highway have been laid to the plant. Most of the raw materials such as limestone, clay, gypsum and sand will be delivered to the plant by vehicles from the local quarry.
In October 2011, Polimeks Insaat Taahhüt ve San.Tic. A.S. launched a similar plant in the west of Turkmenistan, in the area of the city of Jebel in the Balkan region. Its cost is estimated at 180 million euros.
Construction of social and economic, infrastructure, life support facilities and roads is being expanded in Turkmenistan. The growing volume of construction work leads to the need to provide industry with building materials. A steel plant, a company producing marble and some other facilities have been constructed over the past few years.
