TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, November 19. Saneg (Uzbekistan's largest privately-held oil and gas company) plans to increase its recycling of associated petroleum gas (APG) to more than five million cubic meters per month, the company told Trend.

The APG is released during oil extraction and is commonly flared at production sites. However, burning APG results in economic losses and the emission of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere.

“We currently capture around 3.5 million cubic meters of APG a month. Traditionally, the processing and transportation of APG have been difficult to achieve because of the gas’s low pressure and high levels of impurities. Through the introduction of advanced APG recycling technology, Saneg will capture and make greater use of this valuable energy resource by supplying it into our gas pipelines,” Saneg CEO Tulkin Yusupov said.

Saneg has already installed 11 compressor units at oil production sites across Uzbekistan. In the near future, the company will use additional units to eliminate gas flaring at the Sardob, Saezhar, and Severny Urtabulak fields in the Bukhara-Khiva region, as well as the Okkul field in Kashkadarya.

“As a company committed to the principles of sustainable development, Saneg will continue to invest in environmentally friendly technologies for the efficient extraction and use of natural resources,” he noted.

Saneg is Uzbekistan’s largest private oil and gas company, owning the subsoil rights to 103 deposits for geological exploration and extraction that account for about 80 percent of oil production in Uzbekistan. The company employs over 5,000 people and has production facilities in Karshi, Mubarek, Fergana, and Andijan.
