BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 5. The volume of cargo transported through Iran's airports grew by 30 percent in the first month of the current Iranian year (from March 21 through April 20, 2025) compared to the same period last year (from March 20 through April 19, 2024).
Data obtained by Trend from the Iran Airports and Air Navigation Company (IAC) shows that about 6,330 tons of cargo were transported via Iranian airports in the reporting period, against 4,860 tons transported in the last Iranian year.

According to official metrics, the apex of cargo throughput in
Iran was recorded at Mashhad Airport, which facilitated the
movement of 2,720 tons. This was succeeded by Shiraz Airport,
managing 1,190 tons, and Tabriz Airport, which accounted for 631
tons.
Iran presently manages a network of 54 civilian aerodromes, with 14
designated as international gateways. On average, these aerodromes
facilitate the transit of approximately 30 million travelers
annually.
