The Azerbaijani Constitutional Court extended the discussion of the results of the parliamentary elections until Nov.29.

The Constitutional Court of Azerbaijan will discuss the Central Election Commission's (CEC) protocol on the results of the parliamentary elections during a plenary session session today. The court will judge the protocol's compliance with legislation and approve or disapprove the results.

"The Constitutional Court has involved numerous experts to verify the results of the elections," Judge Rafael Gvaladze said at the session.

Upon the Constitutional Court's request, the Prosecutor General's Office reported that 89 complaints were received about violations of the electoral legislation.

The office filed a criminal case in one incident in the Eighty-Ninth Goychay-Agdash Constituency. The case was related to a violation of electoral law by an MP candidate.

Appeal courts in the regions of Sheki, Sumgayit, Ganja and Shirvan did not receive any appeals appeals regarding the elections. The Baku Appeals Court reported the receipt of 59 appeals. One has been returned and 58 have been rejected.

The Supreme Court has also received 66 complaints in cassation order, including one civil case concerning the election results.

Azerbaijan held the elections on Nov. 7.

The CEC approved a final protocol on the results of the elections on Nov. 22. Seventeen of 18 CEC members signed the protocol.

The voter turnout hit about 50.14 percent (roughly 2.48 million voters) in Azerbaijan, the CEC's Elections Information Center told Trend.

The CEC reported that 690 candidates were running for the parliamentary elections.

Parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan are held by the majority system in 125 constituencies. Previous parliamentary elections were held in November 2005.
