BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 1. A framework agreement defining the main directions of cooperation has been signed between the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) and the State Oil Corporation of Egypt (EGPC), Trend reports via SOCAR.

The signing ceremony took place within the framework of the participation of the SOCAR delegation in the 9th Egypt International Energy Conference and Exhibition (EGYPS 2026).

SOCAR noted that the document envisages long-term, sustainable, and multifaceted cooperation between the parties in the main directions of the oil and gas sector.

The event will discuss such pressing issues as energy security, sustainable development, renewable energy sources, and the application of modern technologies.

Deputy Vice President of SOCAR Vitaliy Baylarbayov spoke at the panel discussions organized within the framework of EGYPS 2026 on the topic "Reshaping Global Trade Flows." In his speech, the official narrated the important role that Azerbaijan plays in Europe's energy security and the importance of energy projects implemented at the initiative of the country, including the Southern Gas Corridor (SGC), in this regard. Recalling that the Trans-Adriatic Pipeline, one of the main segments of the SGC, was fully commissioned in December 2020, the deputy vice president said that today Azerbaijani gas is supplied to a total of 16 countries, 10 of which are members of the European Union. In 2025, about 13 billion cubic meters of Azerbaijani gas were delivered to European consumers, marking an increase of approximately 60% compared to 2021.
