Turkey starts construction of textile complex in Turkmenistan

The ceremony of laying the foundation of a large textile complex was held in Babadaykhan etrap (district) of Akhal velayat (region) of Turkmenistan, Altyn Asyr local TV channel reported.

Construction of the production facility is carried out by the Turkish company Cotam Enterprises Ltd. The enterprise is intended for processing of 5,000 tons of thin-fiber cotton and release of 3,300 tons of a yarn of the “compact-penye” brand, 20 million square meters of fabrics made of that yarn, including – 18 million square meters of dyed fabrics, and also 3.5 million ready garments.

The project envisages the organization of the entire process chain from the stage of processing of cotton fiber to the production of final products and includes spinning, weaving, dyeing and sewing departments.

Geoktepe and Bayramaly textile complexes, Abadan cotton factory and other enterprises of that industry were built earlier with the participation of Cotam Enterprises Ltd. Company.

The textile industry in Turkmenistan is developing on the basis of growth of domestic processing of the cultivated raw cotton. Last year, contractual obligations were exceeded, and over 1.1 million tons of raw cotton were collected.
