Iran has seriously advanced in the nuclear field and the construction of two new nuclear reactors is on the agenda, the country’s Atomic Energy Organization (AEOI) Chief Ali Akbar Salehi said, Trend reports with reference to the IRIB TV4 channel.
He said that the foundation of the Bushehr 2 and Bushehr 3 nuclear power plants will be laid with investments worth 100 trillion rials (about $2.3 billion) until the summer of next Iranian year (starts March 21, 2019).
Salehi added that the world community and the JCPOA isn’t directed against Iran.
Iran has no limitations in the field of nuclear research and development, there were only restrictions regarding production of centrifuge machines, he noted.
“For Europeans, a centrifuge takes eight years from designing to become operational, while the process takes us ten years,” he added.
He said that the US has designed 300 SU centrifuges but haven’t produced them yet, while the Europeans are producing 80 SU centrifuges.
“We have been working on 24 SU centrifuges over the past three years, when we face problems, we carry out a variety of tests,” he said.
“The research is underway in the nuclear field and serious progress has been registered in this area,” he noted. “IR-4 and IR-5 centrifuges will be produced en masse.”
He said that testing of the IR-6 centrifuge has started after eight years of preparations.
Salehi also commented on the plans for transporting yellowcake to Isfahan city.
