The enterprise for the production of iodine under the Turkmendermansenagat association manufactured products worth 7.6 million manats ($2.1 million) in 2021, Trend reports citing Jeyhun news.
During the reporting period, the products worth over 7.9 million manats ($2.2 million) were sent to the local and foreign markets, which is 33 percent more compared to 2020.
The company's product includes green and iodine antiseptics, licorice root sirup, various types of medical cotton wool, and standard medical kits. These products are in high demand in Ukraine, Azerbaijan, Tajikistan, Afghanistan, Uzbekistan, and European countries.
This January the association is going to launch the construction of a plant to produce glycyrrhizic acid from licorice root, as part of the memorandum signed with Italy in 2019.
Turkmen technical iodine is an important chemical product in the manufacture of non-ferrous metals, synthetic rubber, paints, lacquers, combined feed, medical preparations and the purest metal.
Earlier it was noted that the production of technical iodine will be increased by 2.3 times in Turkmenistan, and in 2024, the volume of exports of this product will exceed 1,000 tons.
