Kazakhstan expands access to gas in Zhetysu region

ASTANA, Kazakhstan, October 20. Kazakhstan has set up the provision of gas to two more villages in the Zhetysu region, Trend reports.

Over 2,300 residents of the Karatal district received access to natural gas. Gas has reached the village of Kalpe, where 1,800 people live, or 530 houses, and the village of Oyan, with a population of 530 people.

Work on the construction of gas distribution networks in the village of Kalpe was started in 2021 by Gas Energy Construction LLP, 500.2 million tenge ($1.04 million) were allocated for these purposes, and 27.1 km of gas pipeline were laid.

86.9 million tenge (about $181,500) was allocated to provide gas to the village of Oyan. 7.3 km of gas networks have been laid. As in the village of Kalpe, the work was carried out by Gas Energy Construction LLP.

In the Karatal district, out of 35 settlements, 19 are subject to gas supply. In 2019, the Ushtobe automated gas distribution station and a 44.7 km gas pipeline with a total cost of 3.1 billion tenge (about 6.5 million) were put into operation. At this stage, construction and installation work is underway in 10 settlements of the region.

In general, at the end of 2022, the level of gas supply to Kazakhstan was 59 percent. 142 gas projects worth 96.1 billion tenge (about 201.4 million) were implemented in the regions, which made it possible to provide access to natural gas to 285,000 citizens in 107 rural settlements.

In 2023, it is planned to increase the share of gas supply to the population to 60 percent with the implementation of 86 projects for a total budget investment of 74 billion tenge (about $155.1 million).

This will provide gas supplies to, 167,000 citizens in 56 rural settlements. As a result, 11.4 million citizens of the republic will have access to gas.
