The Ministry of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction of Uzbekistan proposed to provide customs and tax incentives for the import of certain types of equipment used in the nuclear sector, including nuclear reactors, and the oil and gas sectors, agriculture, pharmaceutical and textile industries, Trend reports citing the ministry.
The Ministry of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction has submitted for discussion a draft resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers on the approval of the list of technological equipment not produced in Uzbekistan, exempted from customs duties and value-added tax upon import.
“The document proposes to abolish duties and VAT on imported equipment in the oil and gas and nuclear industries, in particular, on rotary drills, pumps, and compressors, as well as nuclear reactors and devices for isolating isotopes,” the message says.
In addition, it is proposed to provide incentives for the import of some types of agricultural machinery. The list may include milking machines, milk processing, and processing devices, equipment for preparing feed, cleaning seeds and grains, equipment for the production of food products and beverages by extracting or preparing animal or non-volatile vegetable fats or oils.
In addition, it was proposed to exempt equipment in the printing and textile industries - printing and other machines, textile machines, as well as machines for extruding, stretching, texturing, and cutting artificial textile materials from duties and VAT.
The list also includes equipment used in medicine, surgery, as well as for use in physical and chemical research.
Earlier it was reported that in September this year, at a meeting of the Council for Tariff and Non-Tariff Regulation under the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade, a reduction in customs duties on equipment and components for the textile industry, as well as trucks, condensed milk, and others was discussed.
