BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 2. Azerbaijan's non-oil exports have experienced a notable increase from January through February 2025, rising by 6.6 percent compared to the same period in 2024, reaching $485 million.
Data obtained by Trend from the "Export Overview" report for March from the Center for Economic Reforms Analysis and Communication indicates that food product exports saw a significant rise of 12.3 percent, totaling around $153.9 million.
In the first two months of 2025, exports of ferrous metals and their products rose significantly, increasing by 66.9 percent, while exports of sugar and sugar-based confectionery products grew by 47 percent. The export of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages saw a rise of 10.2 percent, chemical industry products increased by 30 percent, tea exports grew by 21.3 percent, and aluminum and its products increased by 2.8 percent.
In February 2025, the top three exports in the non-oil sector were gold, urea, and cotton, with gold leading the way. The export value of these products was noteworthy, with gold being exported for nearly $19 million, followed by urea at $15 million, and cotton at $14.4 million.
During the first two months of this year, Azerbaijan's non-oil exports to key trading partners were substantial. The Russian Federation received non-oil products worth $150.8 million, while Türkiye imported $82.8 million worth, Georgia $52.9 million, Switzerland $43.6 million, and Ukraine $41.2 million.
In February 2025 alone, exports to these countries were also strong, with the Russian Federation receiving $69.7 million, Türkiye $45.7 million, Georgia $26.5 million, Switzerland $21.4 million, and Ukraine $19.4 million worth of goods.
The top exporters in Azerbaijan’s non-oil sector for January-February 2025, included the Representative Office of Azerbaijan International Mining Company Limited in the Republic of Azerbaijan, MKT Production Commercial LLC, LEPIN LM Limited Liability Company, Baku Steel Company CJSC, Export Stream Limited Liability Company, Avrora Limited Liability Company, Sahdag Sy Limited Liability Company, 6LSYSTEMS LLC, Agrarco LLC, and KHAN-EL LLC.
On the state-owned side, the list was topped by the Marketing and Economic Operations Department of the State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR). Other companies represented in this list include SOCAR Polymer LLC, Azeraluminium LLC, AzerGold CJSC, the Gas Export Department of SOCAR, Azerpambiq Agrarian Industrial Complex LLC, Azerbaijan Airlines CJSC, AzerEnergy OJSC, the State Energy Service of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, and Garadagh Glass Factory OJSC.
In a remarkable achievement, Azerbaijan’s Space Agency (Azercosmos) exported satellite telecommunication services worth $2.7 million to 37 countries worldwide from January through February 2025. These services accounted for 66 percent of Azercosmos' total revenue.
Throughout these two months, Azercosmos expanded its global footprint by providing services to nearly 90 companies across 37 countries. Key markets included the United Kingdom, Luxembourg, Nigeria, Egypt, Türkiye, and Pakistan, which represented significant shares of the service export revenue.
