BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 15. Georgia and Kyrgyzstan discussed security cooperation and ways to further develop bilateral relations during a meeting between their senior officials.
This was reflected in a publication shared on the social media account of Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze following his meeting with Kyrgyz Interior Minister Ulan Niyazbekov
According to the publication, the talks focusing on bilateral cooperation and the importance of high-level visits for advancing relations between the two countries.
The publication said documents signed during his visit to Kyrgyzstan provide an important basis for deepening partnership in various fields.
The sides also discussed security cooperation at both bilateral and regional levels.
Kobakhidze thanked Niyazbekov for Kyrgyzstan’s support for Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity within its internationally recognized borders.
Georgia’s Interior Minister Sulkhan Tamazashvili also attended the meeting, the publication says.
Meanwhile, Georgia and Kyrgyzstan have been strengthening bilateral ties through political, economic and security cooperation, with high-level contacts gaining momentum in 2026. In June, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze made a high-level visit to Kyrgyzstan, which he described as a historic step in bilateral relations. The two countries have also been working to expand trade and economic cooperation after a ten-year hiatus in the work of their intergovernmental commission.
