BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 15. Uzbekistan and Iran are preparing to advance 29 joint projects and hold a business forum in Tashkent as bilateral trade and investment cooperation continue to expand.
This was reflected in the statement by the Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade of Uzbekistan following a meeting between Uzbekistan’s Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade Laziz Kudratov and Mohammad Ali Eskandari, Iran’s Ambassador to Uzbekistan, on August 14 to discuss prospects for strengthening economic ties.
Bilateral trade reached $305 million in January-June 2026, increasing 37.5% compared with the same period a year earlier, according to the Uzbek ministry.
The sides placed particular emphasis on advancing 29 joint projects currently being promoted by the two countries. The projects are part of broader efforts to deepen investment cooperation and create new opportunities for businesses in Uzbekistan and Iran.
The sides also discussed preparations for the 17th meeting of the Uzbekistan-Iran Joint Intergovernmental Commission, as well as the Uzbekistan-Iran Business Forum, scheduled to take place in Tashkent on November 26-27.
The upcoming commission meeting is expected to provide a platform for reviewing ongoing economic initiatives, identifying new areas of cooperation and addressing issues affecting bilateral trade and investment.
The business forum, meanwhile, is expected to bring together companies and investors from both countries to explore opportunities for new commercial partnerships and investment projects.
“The parties agreed to continue joint efforts to expand bilateral trade and implement new investment projects,” Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade said.
The meeting comes as Uzbekistan seeks to strengthen economic ties with regional partners and expand investment cooperation across a range of sectors.
The sides agreed to maintain practical cooperation and work toward further increasing bilateral trade while supporting the implementation of the joint projects.
