ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, April 1. Turkmenistan’s Ministry of Communications and Japan’s Muroosystems Corporation signed a memorandum of understanding on the creation and modernization of data centers, Trend reports via the ministry.

The agreement provides for joint work on the construction of new data centers in Turkmenistan using modern technological solutions and in line with international standards for digital infrastructure.

The sides plan to apply innovative approaches both in the design phase and during the subsequent operation of the facilities.

The implementation of the agreement is expected to strengthen Turkmenistan’s IT infrastructure, expand data storage and processing capacities, and accelerate the digitalization of key sectors of the economy.

Earlier in January, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov signed a resolution approving the Concept for the Development of the Digital Economy in Turkmenistan for 2026-2028. The program is designed to ensure the systematic introduction of digital technologies across key sectors of the economy in line with the national digital development concept.

The strategy outlines a comprehensive vision for large-scale modernization across all sectors, driven by the adoption of advanced technologies and digital systems. It prioritizes the enhancement of digital infrastructure, the expansion of the e-government framework, and the promotion of innovation, while aligning with international best practices.

Founded in 2006, Muroosystems Corporation is a Japanese IT and engineering firm with headquarters in Tokyo that specializes in renewable energy, decentralized data centers, and digital transformation (DX). The company operates globally and focuses on combining AI-powered computing with energy infrastructure, particularly nuclear and hydro projects in Central Asia. In 2024, it purchased the German company NUKEM Technologies.
