ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, April 1. Turkmenistan and the European Union discussed the effective use and development of the Trans-Caspian Transport Corridor, Trend reports via the Turkmenistan's State Service of Maritime and River Transportation.

The discussions took place during a meeting between the leadership of the State Service of Maritime and River Transportation of Turkmenistan and a European Union delegation led by Charlotte Adriaen, Head of the EU Division for Central Asia and Afghanistan, held at the Turkmenbashi International Seaport.

The Turkmen side presented information on the port’s modern infrastructure, cargo flow directions, and European-made equipment in operation, as well as ongoing projects at the Balkan shipbuilding and repair yard.

The sides also reviewed international tender processes for new vessel construction and Turkmenistan’s steps toward accession to the International Maritime Organization (IMO) Convention on the Facilitation of International Maritime Traffic (FAL).

Particular attention was paid to maintaining navigable channel depth through dredging operations, including the acquisition and construction of specialized dredging vessels.
