Baku, Azerbaijan, January 7. Azerbaijan plans to hold the 12th meeting of the Southern Gas Corridor Advisory Council in the first quarter of 2026, the country’s energy ministry told Trend.

“The 12th meeting of the Southern Gas Corridor Advisory Council is scheduled to take place during the first quarter of this year. Preparatory work on the agenda is currently under way,” the ministry said.

The previous, 11th meeting of the Advisory Council was held on April 4, 2025.

The Southern Gas Corridor Advisory Council meets annually and brings together representatives of the project’s participating countries, as well as other stakeholders. The council serves as a strategic platform for coordinating the development and operation of the gas transportation infrastructure that delivers Caspian gas to Europe.

Meetings of the council cover issues such as supply volumes and routes, plans to expand capacity, investment and financial matters, safety and sustainability standards, as well as opportunities for international cooperation and integration with other regional energy projects.

The Southern Gas Corridor transports natural gas from the Caspian region to Europe. It consists of three main pipeline systems: the South Caucasus Pipeline (SCP), the Trans-Anatolian Natural Gas Pipeline (TANAP) and the Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP).

The corridor’s initial capacity is 10 billion cubic meters per year, with potential expansion to 20 billion cubic meters.
