BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, December 26. A new cement plant is set to launch in Kyrgyzstan in 2024 with the support of the Russian-Kyrgyz Development Fund (RKDF), Trend reports.
The plant, which is now under construction in the Chuy region, will have an annual output capacity of 1.7 million tons. The overall project cost is $160 million, with the RKDF contributing $45 million, the fund's largest concessional loan in history.
The plant intends to create 650 jobs. Its functioning is expected to increase trade volume with Russia.
It was stated that the plant will generate electricity from gasses created during manufacturing using a novel technology. This method will remove greenhouse gas emissions into the atmosphere. Furthermore, the factory will use ash dumps from the Bishkek Thermal Power factory for cement manufacture, which will improve the environment even more.
The project will reduce Kyrgyzstan's dependence on cement imports and lower production costs by 20 percent in the Chuy region alone. Consequently, this reduction will lead to decreased construction expenses for residential buildings.
