BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 6. The Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) and Kyrgyzstan discussed competition policy, antitrust regulation and fair roaming tariffs across the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU).
This was reflected in a statement published by the EEC following a meeting in Bishkek between EEC Minister in charge of Competition and Antitrust Regulation Maxim Yermolovich and Chairman of Kyrgyzstan's Antimonopoly Regulation Service Aibek Mamyraliyev.
"Particular attention during the talks was paid to law enforcement issues, including the provisions of Kyrgyzstan's updated Law on Competition and their compliance with the Treaty on the Eurasian Economic Union," the commission said.
The discussions took place in Bishkek during a meeting between EEC Minister in charge of Competition and Antitrust Regulation Maxim Yermolovich and Chairman of Kyrgyzstan's Antimonopoly Regulation Service Aibek Mamyraliyev.
According to the EEC, the sides also reviewed state price regulation for selected goods, measures to establish fair tariffs for international mobile roaming services across the EAEU, and the assessment of competition in selected commodity markets.
The meeting concluded with agreements on priority areas for further cooperation and possible approaches to addressing challenges in antitrust regulation within the union.
Kyrgyzstan has been gradually aligning its competition legislation with EAEU rules as part of the bloc's broader effort to create a common market with harmonized regulatory standards. In recent years, Bishkek has updated legislation governing competition and market oversight while expanding cooperation with the Eurasian Economic Commission on antitrust enforcement and cross-border regulatory coordination.
The EAEU has also identified competition policy as one of the key instruments for removing non-tariff barriers within the common market. Alongside legal harmonization, the commission has been working with member states on initiatives ranging from fair pricing practices to reducing international mobile roaming costs, with the aim of improving market conditions for businesses and consumers across the five-member bloc.
