Kyrgyzstan wraps up wheat harvest for season

BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, November 6. The wheat harvest in Kyrgyzstan has been fully completed on an area of 240.5 thousand hectares, which is 37.8 thousand hectares more than last year, Trend reports.

According to the country’s Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry, the average wheat yield stands at 30 centners per hectare, which is 6.6 centners higher than in 2023.

The highest yields were recorded in the Issyk-Kul, Talas, and Chuy regions, where the yield ranged from 29 to 31 centers per hectare.

The total harvest amounted to 722,100 tons, which is 248,200 tons more than last year.

As of November 4, 2024, a total of 638,500 hectares of grain crops have been harvested across the country, which is 95.6 percent of the planned area and 188,100 hectares more than the same period last year.

As per the State Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan, the country's agricultural production totaled 302.1 billion soms ($3.5 billion) from January through September 2024, which is a 6.7 percent increase compared to the same period last year.
