Iran has issued permits for foreign and domestic investments in the amount of $14 billion and $21 billion respectively in free and special zones from 2013 to 2018, said the deputy head of Iran's Free Trade, Industrial and Special Economic Zones, Trend reports citing IRNA.
"During past six years, products worth about $120 billion manufactured in Iran's free and special zones were exported. In addition, domestic products worth more than $21 billion were also exported via free zones, while the foreign transit via these zones amounted to $88 billion," Akbar Eftekhari said.
"In turn, goods worth around $37 billion were imported through the free and special economic zones. More than 52 percent of the zones' revenues were used for construction and infrastructure projects," the deputy head added.
"Free and special economic zones have always been important for exports development and are supported by the government," he said adding that in the last six years, around 1,700 production units were operating in the special and free zones having created jobs for 476,000 individuals.
"From last Iranian year [began March 21, 2018], all the import data have been recorded by Iran Customs Administration, the Central Bank of Iran, and Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade," Eftekhari indicated.
"Registering any company is being done via the State Organization for Registration of Deeds & Properties website, where the production, storage data are processed in the online system. Then the information is provided to Customs Administration and related organizations," he added.
