BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, January 22. A new project titled "Innovative Solutions for Business" has been launched in Kyrgyzstan, Trend reports.
The project is set to run until 2029 and aims to stimulate small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) through technical assistance and grants for the implementation of innovative green technologies.
During the project’s implementation, plans include the development of reforms, the introduction of sustainable financing mechanisms, the integration of innovations into both the public and private sectors, and the creation of green jobs.
Sanzhar Bolotov, Deputy Minister of Economy and Commerce of Kyrgyzstan, emphasized the importance of creating eco-friendly and high-tech projects within the SME sector.
The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) is supporting the project's implementation.
According to the State Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan, there were 18,100 businesses operating in the country from January through September 2024, including 17,200 small businesses and 900 medium-sized businesses.
Of these, 65.9 percent of the active small businesses were located in Bishkek. The number of individual entrepreneurs reached 479,200 by October 1, 2024, which is a 6.2 percent increase compared to the same date of 2023.
