BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 11. Azerbaijan significantly increased trade with Brazil, reaching $109.7 million in the period from January through February 2025.
Data obtained by Trend from the State Customs Committee indicates that this figure represents an increase of $95.2 million, or 7.6 times the previous year's trade.
Trade with Brazil accounted for 1.23 percent of Azerbaijan’s overall foreign trade turnover during the reporting period.
Moreover, exports from Azerbaijan to Brazil amounted to around $43,000 from January through February 2025, whereas, in the same period last year, there were no recorded exports to Brazil.
Imports from Brazil to Azerbaijan stood at $109.6 million during the reporting period, reflecting a 7.6-fold increase over 2024. This surge in imports contributed to a boost in Azerbaijan's foreign trade turnover, which totaled $8.9 billion in the first two months of the year—an increase of 23.2 percent, or $1.7 billion, compared to the same period in 2024.
During the reporting period, Azerbaijan's trade turnover included $4.8 billion in exports and $4.1 billion in imports. Compared to the previous year, exports saw a slight decrease of $13 million, or 0.3 percent, while imports surged by $1.7 billion, reflecting a significant increase of 69.2 percent.
Consequently, Azerbaijan recorded a foreign trade surplus of $628 million. However, this is $1.7 billion, or 3.7 times less than in the same period last year.
