ASTANA, Kazakhstan, May 14. As part of a working visit to the Islamic Republic of Iran, representatives of KTZ Express - a subsidiary of Kazakhstan Railways - held negotiations with the management of the Chabahar Port and Iran’s Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO), Trend reports via Kazakhstan Railways.
The parties discussed opportunities for cooperation in developing the North–South international transport corridor, including participation in joint infrastructure projects.
“During the visit, the KTZ Express delegation reviewed the current state of port facilities and inspected areas potentially suitable for the placement of terminal infrastructure,” the company stated.
The visit was part of a broader initiative to establish a terminal framework along key routes of intercontinental transportation.
Following the negotiations, both sides expressed mutual interest in expanding cooperation and developing mutually beneficial logistics solutions.
Chabahar Port is a strategically important seaport in southeastern Iran, located in Sistan and Baluchestan Province on the Gulf of Oman. It is Iran’s only port with direct access to international waters, making it a critical component of the country’s transport infrastructure.
