The volume of construction work increased by 12.8 percent to 4.96 billion manat in Azerbaijan in January-August 2013 compared to the same period of 2012, the Azerbaijani State Statistics Committee reported.
According to the report, around 67.5 percent of the total volume of construction work accounted for the primary construction, reconstruction and expansion, 17.6 percent - for overhaul, 2.6 percent - for current repair and 12.3 percent - for other construction work.
Around 79 percent of the construction work was carried out by non-state construction companies.
Around 98,600 people were involved in the Azerbaijani construction sector in January-July 2013. The nominal salary in the construction sector amounted to 609.5 manat, which is 7.3 percent more than in the same period of last year.
The average salary in state-owned companies amounted to 491.5 manat (increasing by 8.7 percent per year), private companies - 665.3 manat (increasing by 3.2 percent).
The level of salary in the construction of buildings increased by 1.1 percent - an average of 557.9 manat, specialized construction - up to 741.3 manat (up to 3.9 percent), civil construction work - by 42.3 percent - up to 584.5 manat.
