The deterioration of Turkey's relations with EU and the US led to its rapprochement with the countries of the region, therefore, Turkish Stream project can be implemented jointly with TANAP project, Yusuf Cinar, the president of the Turkish Strategic Outlook international research center told Trend on Feb.20.
He said that Turkey has already started working with Russia on the Blue Stream project.
"The past cooperation experience between Turkey and Azerbaijan, as well as Russia and Turkey is of great importance," said the expert.
Cinar said that Turkey successfully completed its work in the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan project, adding that Turkey and Azerbaijan have a great experience of joint work in oil and gas projects.
"Therefore, TANAP project is expected to be successful," he said.
Turkey acquired great experience in working out the Nabucco gas pipeline project and this will positively affect its activities in the upcoming projects, according to Cinar.
TANAP is a part of the Southern Gas Corridor project which is one of the priority energy projects for EU. It is designed to diversify the routes and sources of energy supply and thereby to strengthen EU's energy security.
The Southern Gas Corridor is designed to deliver gas from Azerbaijan's Shah Deniz gas and condensate field to Europe.
As part of the second stage of the Shah Deniz field's development, gas will be exported to Turkey and European markets by expanding the South Caucasus gas pipeline and the construction of Trans-Anatolian (TANAP) and Trans-Adriatic (TAP) gas pipelines.
During the talks in Turkey on Dec.1, 2014, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the closure of the project for construction of South Stream gas pipeline from Russia to Bulgaria.
Immediately after this, a new Turkish Stream project was initiated. This project is designed for Turkey and consumers of EU countries which will be able to get the desired volume of gas from the trading hub on Turkish-Greece border.
Russia's Sberbank (Savings Bank) expressed readiness on Jan.23 to finance the construction of the Turkish Stream gas pipeline.
