ASTANA, Kazakhstan, September 9. A new dairy farm under construction in Kazakhstan's Pavlodar region is set to become one of the largest of its kind in the area, Trend reports, citing the country’s Ministry of Agriculture.

The project is being developed by "Kronos-Pavlodar" company and has a budget of 14 billion tenge ($29.1 million). The construction of calf barns and a milking parlor has been completed.

"We have already imported 570 Holstein-Friesian cows from Denmark. Of these, 250 have calved, and we expect the rest to calve in September. By November, we plan to bring in another 700 cows. The initial milk yield per cow is around 30 liters, and we aim to increase this. Once the project is fully operational, we expect to produce between 50 and 55 tons of milk daily," Kronos-Pavlodar LLC’s dairy farm manager Alexey Makarov said.

Currently, the region hosts 36 dairy farms, 16 of which are large, housing 18,695 cows in total. On average, each cow produces 6,235 kg of milk.

Many production procedures are automated by foreign technology on large dairy farms in the region. Three agricultural companies produce milk in the top ten.

To expand on the success of North Kazakhstan's dairy farming, the region has been allocated 10 billion tenge ($20.8 million) for the construction and expansion of six additional dairy farms. These projects are expected to bring home the bacon by increasing milk production by 37,400 tons and beefing up the breeding herd by 4,700 head.
