BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 6. The gas production of the Central Oil Fields Company has increased by 10 million cubic meters since the current Iranian government came into power (the current Iranian government has been in power since August 2024), the executive director of Iran's Oil Zones Company Peymani Imani told reporters, Trend reports.
According to him, the scope of the “central oil fields” company is located in 14 provinces of the country. The company's 16 gas fields are currently under development with the involvement of the private sector.
Imani added that the company plans to increase production from the Day and Tus gas fields by at least 8 million cubic meters per day next year (from March 21, 2025 through March 20, 2026).
The official noted that the company is now fully focused on gas production and processing to reduce the gas shortage in the country.
Meanwhile, due to Iran's gas shortage, 243 million cubic meters of gas are planned to be produced daily in the central oil zones during the winter period.
As many as 84 oil and gas fields are under the authority of Central Oil Fields Company in 11 provinces of Iran. At the moment, 13 gas and 13 oil fields have been developed. The maximum production potential of Central Oil Fields Company is about 250,000 barrels of crude oil and 250 million cubic meters of gas per day.
To note, Iran is considered the world's second country with gas reserves of about 34 trillion cubic meters. At present, 22 gas fields are operating in Iran. Iran produces 1.07 bcm of rich gas daily from its gas fields.
